Along with blue suits, gray suits are part of the uniform of the corporate world. Dark, charcoal gray carries with it some of the strength and mystery of black. It is a sophisticated color without much of the negative attributes of black and brightness of white. Pencils have been used time immemorial for representing drawing skills and a learning medium.
The common pencil (the word derives from the Latin 'peniculus' meaning brush), used by draftsmen around the world, is the most immediate and sensitive of the drawing media, being as capable of producing a quick sketch or a finely worked drawing. Pencil marks vary according to the hardness of the graphite lead in the shaft. The harder the lead (and the sharper the tip) the finer the line. Pencils are a dry medium, in contrast to pens which apply liquids.
A drawing using pencil shading is like playing with light and shade, they usually serve to quickly record ideas for later use. Sketches are inexpensive and allow the artist to try out different ideas before committing to an expensive and time consuming painting or fresco. Sketching sharpens an artist's ability to focus on surroundings around you. If you find drawing difficult, drawing with shading will seem much easier than you could imagine. So reach out for your pencil and let the mystery of black and magic of white unfold on any drawing sheet you can lay hands on.
I am presenting some of the sketches I have done, if you are interested in creating a pencil sketch of yourself of someone you love. I can help you do the same all I need is a good photograph with a soft background but in some scenarios a old vintage photograph can also be made use to.

<img style="cursor: pointer; Dreams are controlled by emotions and Emotions makes an art. Day dreaming makes me more aware of the immediate surrounding concentrating on new direction of thoughts which control the brush strokes when I am awake with my eyes open. Though through ages day dreaming have been associated to non-productive past time, but for me it is all about composing a chain of thoughts and observe the abstractism in real life and later produce them on the canvas. Most of my paintings have been the outcome of day dreaming.
All men dream but not equally. Those that dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that is was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible. - T.E. Lawrence

As a abstract artist facinated by abstractism in every thing around me, It is rightly said “You can always trust a dreamer. Because it's almost imposible to dream at something that you are not good at.” Dreams are a way to escape reality in a surreal way and will never give up day dreaming, letting my imaginations go wild with my eyes closed similar to my morning pranayama. The only difference is during pranayama my breath as well as mind are in eternal control and in later during day dreaming they are just wild sometimes flowing like a mountain river, smashing like violent sea floating like summer clouds, bursting like monsoon clouds, wistling like wind in forest .......

I am a DAY DREAMER amd shall always choose to be a DAY DREAMER, some surreal expression of me as one will come down as a series of painting, here are some:

<img style="cursor: pointer;

As abstract artist, I like exploring the unusual aspects of the human nature using a surreal twist. I am inspired by abstraction in the nature, in clouds in leaves in women in myself...every where I see abstract celebration. There are times when you are in deep thought and you ask yourself a simple question, Who am I?

Answering this question has been quest for enlightenment ever since the human race, brewing up within depth of mind generating numerous philosophies, theologies, myths, legends and scientific theories. Complex beliefs and rituals have evolved to satisfy our insatiable hunger to know the truth.

Krishnamurti has rightly said "There's only one path - the path of the heart."

The path to attain the enlightenment travels from heart to the mind, a path towards spiritual enlightenment by mental purity with the goal to unite the Conscious mind with the soul. Enlightenment is realized when the sense of self identification comes through mind’s waves of perception, and the false self consisting of the ego, the intellect and our complete record of meaning, is dissolved. The ripples of the sea of consciousness, termed vritti, have become motionless and the spirit or aatmaa, the perceiver, knows who he is.

Let’s realize the path to enlightenment within ourselves with mental purity, I have been working on this subject for quite a sometime started with the Buddha's enlightenment and have so far completed four oil paintings in this series and still try to visualize more complex answer to the simple questions.

Ganesha - the divine musician

Ganesha — the elephant-deity riding a mouse is one of the best-known and most widely worshipped deities in Hindus. The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephantine countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being. He is the Lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles. He is also worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth. In fact, Ganesha is one of the five prime Hindu deities (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Durga being the other four) whose idolatry is glorified as the panchayatana puja.

I am working on a series of mix media paintings, oil and acrylic on 24" by 24" stretched canvas on wooden frame depicting Ganesha in various roles of a musician. Indian dressing styles are marked by many variations, both religious and regional and one is likely to witness a plethora of colors, textures and styles in garments worn by the Indians.

The sari finds itself as be the most versatile garment in existence and is only one of the many traditional garments worn by women. A sari is a rectangular piece of cloth which is five to six yards in length. The style, color and texture of this cloth vary and it might be made from cotton, silk or one of the several man-made materials and varous styles have been popular in different parts of the country.

The sari has an ageless charm since it is not cut or tailored for a particular size and fits any size and if worn properly can accentuate or conceal. I have tried to capture many of the moods of indian women in my oil paintings on canvas, and many of them will follow in this sequence.

A little About Me - a day dreamer

I am Chanda Dobriyal a freelance web designer, logo designer and abstract artist housed in Chennai a beautiful old city historically dated back around 1522 and now a bustling metropolis.

I was blessed on this earth some 36 years back in Gujarat though the roots hail from the mighty Himalayas in Garhwal hills. I completed my Bachelors Degree in Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science from M. S. University of Baroda. My passion of computer led me to take up quite a few courses and later took up academics and taught in school in Baroda and then in Navi Mumbai. I have travelled to almost every nook and corner of India from west to the beautiful seven sister states of east, north to the culture rich traditional southern states and have learnt from the nature and environment that you can relish in incredible INDIA.

I came to Chennai in 2003 and again gave my career a new start by taking a Diploma Course in Web Designing and Print Media from Arena Multimedia, instead of working under some one I decided to get on to my own so I can be with my childrens when it really matters. I became a freelance web designer and completed many projects. Art and painting had always facinated me and was part of my hobby, then one fine day I dreamed of converting it to my career aided with computer designing and printing. So I took up formal classes on oil painting and shifted my focus to oil paintings.

I decided to take up contemporary abstract art since I was always attached to nature and surrounding of incredible India. I like exploring the unusual aspects of the human nature using a surreal twist. Most of my abstract oil paintings on canvas represents a social responsibility and inclination to environment with a touch of feminism as a part of me.
