About Me

I am Chanda Dobriyal a watercolor artist housed in port town of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. Kakinada is globally known for its sweet called kaaja and is famous for its scenic beaches alongside Visakhapatnam.  The Indian Standard Time (IST) passes through this city and now a bustling smart city with clean layout.
Born in quite town of Khambhat in Gujarat though the roots hail from the mighty Himalayas in Garhwal hills, completed my education in Baroda. I have traveled to almost every nook and corner of India from west to the beautiful seven sister states of east, north to the culture rich traditional southern states.
I started my passion for learning painting in 2006 and have privilege to learn with few renowned artists like A.V Ilango (Art Space), Manohar Raja (Water Colour), Jai Prakash (Tapasiya School of Arts), R. Rajendran (Dessin School of Arts) and M. Ramasuresh (Art Expressions) in Chennai. Dhruba Mazumdar (Water Colour), Nirupam Konwar from Bangalore, Abbey Joshep from Kerala, Bijay Biswal and Amit Kapoor.
I was active member of Chennai Weekend Artist, a group of hobbyist and professional artists meeting every weekend for live sketching and painting in and around Chennai for last three years.
I devote almost full-time to watercolor painting from my studio in the upcoming smart city of Kakinada or outdoor plein air watercolor art during weekends. My studio is also home to many students, whom I teach various form of Indian folk art, drawing and painting using various mediums like, acrylics, oil paint, tempra paint, poster colors, crayons, pencil colors.
I also conduct workshops for upcoming artists or hobbyist so that art can act in infusing a sense of mental peace. I also take commissioned artwork using acrylic and oil as medium and indian folk art painting
I have traveled almost across India and have been capturing the social and culture of this vibrant and ever changing landscape of mu country most of the time plein air. Watercolor painting during my travels and stay at various places has not only resulted in collection of watercolor paintings and sketches but a set of memories of the landscapes and the temples for which India are so famous.
